Police in Jeddah put an end Tuesday to an alcohol production operation being run from the bedroom of an Asian man in the district of Ghulail. Over half a dozen large barrels were found at the site along with scores of bottled araq ready for sale after officers had managed to penetrate the man's distribution network, which extended to neighboring districts and Al-Karantina, and identify the site of production. The raid revealed brewing and distilling equipment set up in a bedroom whose windows had been sealed with industrial resin to prevent odors attracting the attention of neighbors. Police said that one person was arrested who was in a state of inebriation at the time of the raid.
