The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has stepped up health measures by banning fruit and vegetable sellers from displaying their wares outside stores, reinforcing a ban on displaying frozen food in temperatures higher than 18°C. The ministry moves, issued Sunday, also reiterate that frozen products such as meat and poultry, eggs, salad, fruit juice, cheese and dairy products, must be stored at no more than 4°C. The ministry further warned that the display or sale of food products such as still or fizzy water at sites where gas is available is in violation of health rules, and said any failure to comply would result in fines and stiff penalties for repeat offenders.
