Vietnam fully supports the Arab Peace Initiative and seeks improved ties with Gulf countries, notably Saudi Arabia, says visiting Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet. Addressing the Shoura Council here Sunday, he said that his country had given full support to stability in the Mideast and made a significant contribution to peace and security through the UN Security Council. Triet added that his visit to the Kingdom was focusing on economic cooperation and oil and agriculture sectors to secure food and energy. He also presented a proposal to set up a consultative council between Asia and the Gulf countries for the exchange of trade, investment and experience, and concluded his speech by describing Vietnam as a nation “against war and all that seeks to spark crises throughout the world”.
