Rescuers had found the remains of two Filipino sailors who were trapped in a ship that caught fire off Yangtze River in China last Sunday. In a statement posted on its Website, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the sailors' manning agency has confirmed that the remains of Filipinos Renard Donadilla and Michael Narigaron were retrieved in Yangtze River last Wednesday. The families of the two have been informed of the tragedy, the DFA added. The Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs meanwhile said it is coordinating with the manning agency for the immediate repatriation of the seafarers' remains. The two seafarers were serving on board Panama-flagged MT Golden Crux, an unloaded liquefied gas tanker, along with 11 others Filipinos and one Burmese serving as crew members. The ship caught fire Sunday night. Local reports in Shanghai said an explosion occurred in the ship's engine room, causing the fire. The two sailors who died were reported trapped in the cabin while on duty, while the 12 other sailors were able to escape using a lifeboat and were rescued past midnight of Sunday. There were unhurt. The 95-meter tanker was bound for South Korea from Nantong in China's Jiangsu province to load liquefied petroleum gas when the explosion occurred.
