An Asian man was arrested in Jeddah on Saturday charged with stealing and falsifying valid passports and residency permits in order to sell them to persons living illegally in the Kingdom. The Passports Department set up surveillance after becoming aware of the man's activities early last week and 24 hours later sent in an undercover officer to pose as a client. A deal for a false passport was struck, and the arrest was made several days later as the handover of the document was being conducted at the forger's residence. Officers seized from the accused's apartment numerous forged and stolen identity documents which he reportedly sold for up to SR1,400.
