The Saudi medical team, which was poised to perform a surgical operation to separate the Palestinian conjoined twins who were brought from Gaza to King Abdulaziz Medical City for the National Guard, announced Friday that it was not possible to perform the surgery, citing inherited defects.? In a press release, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health and Head of the Medical Team, said tests showed that the life of the two female Siamese twins would be endangered if a surgery was performed.? He said that serious inherited defects at the heart, liver and digestive system of the twins made the operation impossible.? He quoted the parents of the twins as thanking the Kingdom for the generous offer to have the operation performed at one of its renowned hospitals.
