Without a doubt, Mangga lived up to people's expectations as the sweetest of them all, bagging the championship title in the recently concluded Sinag Pinoy 2010 Tennis tournament held at Al-Yamama Hotel tennis courts here. Dubbed as “Battle of the Fruits” Team Tennis Challenge, Mangga vested other equally formidable opponents, Santol (1st runner-up), Pinya (2nd runner-up) and Bayabas (3rd runner-up). The awarding ceremony culminated the successful one-month tournament. Headed by PNC102 President Jun Baylon, club officers presented more than 50 awards to individuals and team members as recognition of their feats in the tournament. Mangga team captain Ting Banday received the championship trophy on behalf of the team. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the awarding of the grand prize, a refrigerator, to Gerome Corpuz. His name was luckily picked out, no less than by his daughter, among the hundreds on entries in the raffle box, to the surprise of the spectators. VP for External Affairs Ed Sarmiento announced the line-up of activities of Pinoy Netters for the month of April 2010. A three-day tennis clinic will be conducted by the Training and Development Section, headed by its Director Gerome Corpuz under the Supervision of VP External Affairs. Billie Lapating, tennis training guru, will conduct the training personally. After the three-day clinic, a one-month singles team tennis tournament format will commence starting third week of April. “KUSANG PALO” a charity program of Pinoy Netters for the past seven years, collected SR629 for Bahay Kalinga, PNC102's chosen charity for FY 2010. “Despite all the economic hardships we are facing, club members did not fail to recognize that there are so many people in dire need of our help more than ever,” said, Ardie Dioso, best player in B7 category.
