Lufthansa will introduce three weekly flights from Riyadh to Munich - its second hub airport in Southern Germany - starting on April 26. The new offer complements the daily flight from Riyadh to Lufthansa's Frankfurt hub. With the new flight, Lufthansa will be serving the Saudi cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam with 20 flights a week, offering travelers to and from Saudi Arabia unparalleled choice and travel flexibility. Additionally, Lufthansa flies daily from the greater Dammam/Bahrain catchment area to Frankfurt. Stefan Loecherbach, director of Lufthansa for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain & Yemen said: “I am very pleased to announce the further enhancement of our service from Riyadh, linking Saudi Arabia to Germany and 204 Lufthansa destinations in 81 countries. For holiday makers, Munich and the surroundings, like for example Salzburg in Austria, will move a whole lot closer. And for business travelers, our new service to the south of Germany brings even more travel flexibility.” The service between Riyadh and Munich will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 Intercontinental, state-of-the-art in terms of cabin comfort, in-flight entertainment and aircraft technology. The aircraft, operated by PrivatAir, is equipped with Lufthansa's latest longhaul cabin product: The 24 Lufthansa business class seats feature a massage function and can be turned into a two-meter lie-flat bed. Business class passengers have their personal video screens and individual notebook ports. The 84 seats in economy class feature personal in-seat screens, providing a wide range of entertainment options. This seat is the standard economy class seat model, which is installed on Lufthansa's intercontinental aircraft. “The economic ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Germany are growing steadily and the Saudi market is of strategic importance to Lufthansa,” said Joachim Steinbach, vice president Sales & Services for Southeast Europe, Africa, Middle East & Pakistan. “We have invested heavily in Saudi Arabia over the course of the past 12 months and continue to do so step by step and in line with market demand.” All flights from Saudi Arabia provide lean onward connections to Lufthansa destinations in Germany, numerous other European cities and a vast number of destinations in Lufthansa's intercontinental network. In North America, Lufthansa serves 21 destinations and countless more in cooperation with code share partners United Airlines and Continental Airlines and with affiliate JetBlue, in which Lufthansa holds a 15.6 percent equity stake. Lufthansa flights can be booked online at www.lufthansa.com, at the Lufthansa office in Riyadh or through a customer's favorite travel agent,” said Stefan Loecherbach. “Lufthansa offers loyalty programs tailored to the specific needs of different customer segments.” Flying Lufthansa means being able to enjoy the benefits of Miles & More.
