Hefty fines await litterbugs in the Eastern Province. Sanitary inspectors will photograph those seen littering in public places. A fine of up to SR200 will be imposed on the spot on people who dispose of waste materials on the roads. A fine ranging from SR100 to SR1,000 will be imposed on the houses from where garbage is dumped in public places. Restaurants will be fined from SR1000 to SR5,000, grocery stores from SR500 to SR1,000 and other business establishments up to SR5,000 if they are caught disposing of waste materials in public places. Hospitals and factories will be fined according to the seriousness of the violations, with fines ranging from SR1,000 up to SR20,000. Fines will also be imposed on those who redirect wastewater flow to roads and public places. Houses will be charged from SR100 to SR1,000 and restaurants up to SR1,000 for violating this rule. Authorities said the drive would commence after the proper training of sanitary field inspectors. __
