The appearance of 47 persons at King Khaled Hospital's emergencies department with food poisoning led to the closure of a shwarma restaurant in Hail on Friday. The precautionary measure was taken after 25 females and 22 males checked into the department the same day, the oldest being 50 and the youngest four years old, all of whom had eaten at the outlet. All but three of the 47 were discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for food poisoning. Officials said that the restaurant was immediately closed and samples were taken away to establish the nature of the bacterial contamination.
