Andy Roddick eased into the semifinals of the Sony Ericsson Open with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Spain's Nicolas Almagro Wednesday. Sixth seed Roddick, who won this event in 2004, will face either France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Spaniard Rafa Nadal in the last four. The American never looked back after breaking at the first opportunity in the opening set. Tsonga and Nadal face each other later Wednesday with the Spaniard sensing the chance for a victory after top seed Roger Federer went out to Czech Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (6)Tuesday. Justine Henin reached the semifinals by beating No. 2-seeded Caroline Wozniacki 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4. Henin lost only two of 22 service points in the final set, closing out the 2-hour, 45-minute match with a love game. The unseeded Henin, who received a wild card entry, has beaten four seeded players in a row in her fourth tournament since coming out of retirement. She's 16-3 since ending a 20-month retirement in January, and she'll move back into the top 30 in next week's rankings. Henin's a seven-time Grand Slam champion, but she seeks her first Key Biscayne title. Her best finish came in 2007, when she lost to Serena Williams in the final. She was playing for the first time against the 19-year-old Wozniacki, who said that as a youngster she watched Henin play on TV. Wozniacki said she wasn't surprised that Henin played so well. “It's really difficult to play matches again after you haven't played for a while, but I think she just didn't feel the pressure,” Wozniacki said. On the women's side, third seed Venus Williams won her 14th successive match after beating Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-1 in their quarterfinal match. France's Marion Bartoli beat Yanina Wickmayer 6-4, 7-5. Nadal brushed past Spanish compatriot and Davis Cup teammate David Ferrer 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. American Mardy Fish retired when trailing 6-1, 1-0 against Russia's Mikhail Youzhny after injuring his sciatic nerve during the first set, while Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced after beating Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-2, 6-2. Roland Garros finalist Robin Soderling reached the quarterfinals for the first time with a 6-0, 6-7 (7-3), 6-2 win over Chilean Fernando Gonzalez.
