Actress Joanna Lumley and her allies in a campaign to allow more Nepalese Gurkha soldiers to settle in Britain hit back Monday against what they said was a government plot to undermine their cause. The row opens old wounds for Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who last year was forced by Lumley's campaign to reverse his policy and allow more retired Gurkhas to settle in the UK. At a news conference, Lumley and a legal team working on behalf of Gurkha veterans sharply criticized what they said were negative statements fed to the press by the defense ministry regarding their campaign.
