based Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL) in Sanremo, Italy will exchange experience and information by working together in areas such as security sciences, peace research and international humanitarian law among other related disciplines. The NAUSS and IIHL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here Sunday to promote mutual interest in creating programs and research activities between the two institutions. Dr. Saker Al-Mokayyad, NAUSS Director for International Cooperation, said the university has been expanding its cooperation with a number of international agencies across the world. He said NAUSS has so far organized 178 programs in cooperation with international organizations, interior ministries and police academies in France, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria, Canada, the US, Italy, Holland and China with the major focus on counter-terrorism, drug prevention, organized crime, combating corruption and VIP protection. As of today NAUSS has signed 120 MoUs with a number of international organizations and universities including International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), UN Office of Drugs and Crime, UNESCO, International Center for Crime Prevention, and International Global Center for Counter-Terrorism, Al-Mokayyad said. He said NAUSS and IIHL would work together to achieve goals in promoting institutional exchange by inviting scholars, delegates and designated participants for a number of research activities including lectures and other programs. The two institutions will also jointly organize symposia, conferences and meetings on a number of other issues of mutual concern, he said. The signing of the MoU will further ensure justice and security by creating programs and research activities between the two institutes, he said. The MoU was signed for a three-year period between Dr. Abdulaziz S. Al-Ghamdi, NAUSS President, and Ambassador Maurizio Moreno, President, IIHL.
