Police here raided a liquor distillery in northern Jeddah and arrested three Africans. The man running the distillery used to have large quantities of the liquor distributed to different parts of the city. The distributors were of different nationalities. Acting on a tip-off, the police monitored suspected locations for several days. They first arrested a suspect with a number of bottles of liquor in his possession. He led police to the Al-Safa District apartment where, in the kitchen, the liquor was distilled. The man during interrogation said he obtained a forged Iqama for SR2,000. He said he had worked with a liquor dealer in the past as a distributor before deciding to set up his own illegal business. He rented the apartment and installed the piping required for the distillation himself.
