The Ministry of Education has two major objectives in place to boost education in the Kingdom – the improvement of teachers' skills and construction of more government school buildings to replace rented ones. The two goals are part of King Abdullah's Project for the Development of Education, according to the Minister of Education, Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah. The minister was speaking during his visit to Taiba High School in Madina Saturday. The King's project aims to develop a quality assurance plan in education rather than just quantity, the minister said. Education is an investment in human beings through the building of the mind. This can only be achieved with the correct selection of curricula and teachers, the minister said. The new science and math project, which was launched last week at public schools, would provide significant momentum to education in the Kingdom, he said. Since the first Education Ministry in the Kingdom was launched under late King Fahd, the ministry has strived to broaden its scope to provide educational opportunities for all citizens across the Kingdom, he said. Now the ministry is looking into developing education methods. “I would like to establish a model school in Madina dedicated to Arabic calligraphy, to be part of the Knowledge City planned for Madina,” the minister added. During his visit, the minister launched the Taiba website and the education website “Our Values” in the presence of the Director of the Madina Education Department, Tandheeb Al-Faidi, and Director of the Girls' Education department in Madina, Yousef Al-Faqi. The minister toured the classrooms at the Taiba High School and interacted with both teachers and students. He also ordered that the school's theater be restored.
