Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister attended Saturday the final day of the competition for the memorization of the Prophet's Hadith. Prince Naif is the Chairman of the Higher Committee for the prize, which is named the Prince Naif International Prize for the Prophet's Sunnah and Islamic Studies. This is the fifth time it is being held. Addressing the gathering, Prince Naif thanked Almighty Allah for enabling the late King Abdul Aziz to establish the Kingdom on the principles of monotheism and brotherhood. He said the righteousness of the Ummah stems from its strict adherence to Allah's Book and the Sunnah of his Prophet (peace be upon him). He said the understanding of the Prophet's Sunnah is fundamental for learning the Holy Qur'an. He said it is important for the youth of the Ummah to learn the Prophet's Sunnah; and that they should be raised according to its noble values and teachings which advocate tolerance, moderation and flexibility. Over the five past years the competition has focused on female and male youth in the Kingdom. He said the results of the competition were encouraging because it reflected the great care people attach to the Prophet's Hadith. He prayed to Almighty Allah for the competition to realize the purpose for which it was created. Present at the function were scholars and members of the Higher Committee for the Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz International Prize for Contemporary Islamic Studies.
