Indian housewives, many of them left at home while their husbands go to work and children to school, can now continue their education through a program offered by the Center for Information and Guidance India (CIGI). A non-profit voluntary organization, CIGI guides Indian expatriates to select the right kind of career suitable for them. It is based in Calicut, Kerala. But it has volunteer groups working overseas, including Saudi Arabia, to guide students and youngsters in competency building, selection of right career and achieve excellence in their respective areas. “While CIGI targets secondary graduate students, we are focusing now on housewives through distance education program,” said Abdul Majeed, president of the CIGI, Dammam chapter. “Indian housewives are as important as high school graduates in pursuing a career or profession. They can now pursue their education through distance learning,” said Majeed. The CIGI Dammam chapter is sponsoring a career day called Career XPO'08 to be held at Dhahran International Hotel on May 23. To participate in this Career XPO'08 event, free registration can be done via email [email protected] on phone 0508142376/0561516583. __
