Various Tamil associations functioning in different parts of the Kingdom gathered here recently to unify under ‘Saudi Tamil Sangam.' Leaders from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Abha, Khamis Mushayt, Yanbu, Jubail and Hofuf gathered for the meeting hosted by Riyadh Tamil Sangam. The participants later briefed Indian Ambassador M.O.H. Farook and explained to him that the newly formed group will seek more benefits and concessions from central and state governments for their families in the field of education, health and investments. M.O.H. Farook appreciated and welcomed the concept and wanted the other communities also to take up similar steps for better understanding and cooperation. A coordination committee is expected to take up the charge soon. At 1.5 million, Indians form the largest expatriate population in the Kingdom. Out of this 20 percent are from the southern state of Tamil Nadu, constituting the second largest expatriate community. __
