The Bakhashab Brothers Holding Co. announced that the Isuzu Rally team (two diesel 4x4 Isuzu D-Max) will take part in the UAE International Rally with the full support form the Isuzu Company.
The rally will be held from March 27 to April 1.
The participation of the team in Hail Baja Rally 2010 was very successful where the team won the T2 category title and the fifth position overall.
Sheikh Hisham Bakhashab, Bakhashab Isuzu Holding Company Chairman, honored the team champions when he announced the full support for the team to participate in UAE Desert Rally 2010 in Abu Dhabi. This is in continuation of the company's policy to support Saudi youth to represent the country in international events.
Sheikh Hisham Bakhashab said: “We thank Allah that Bakhashab Isuzu Rally team managed to win the T2 title, and this success was the result of early preparations and readiness to participate in the Hail Rally after the International Automobile Federation's (FIA) decision to stage the international Hail Baja Rally.
“This has awakened our feelings and encouraged us to be ready to participate in this rally with a team of well-known Saudi champions. It is our aim not only to participate but also to win,” he said.
Isuzu has thus started working toward establishing an international rally team with well-known Saudi rally drivers Sami Al-Shamari and his co-driver Abdullah Al Shamari and Majed Al-Ghamdi.
The two Isuzu drivers are fully supported by a technical team under the supervision of team manager Abdulrahman Elhiraki, who directed the team in the Hail Baja Rally Championship 2010.
“We are ready for the upcoming rally and have a great desire to win Group T2 title, in the same way we did it at Hail Rally 2010,” Al-Shamari said.
This car has also a great history participating in the international Baja rallies driven by Italian and Portuguese teams achieving impressive results in the Paris Dakar Rally with a 200-horse power diesel engine developed.
Elhiraki said: “Two well equipped Isuzu D-Max cars are ready to participate in group T2.”
A prize money of SR30,000 was awarded to the drivers.
