Social and psychological experts have a crucial role to play in treating patients, Dr. Sami Badawood, Director of Jeddah Health Affairs, said during the inauguration of World Mental Health Day at King Fahd Hospital here on Wednesday. Social and psychological care, he said, are important in treating a patient, but both officials and patients tend to ignore this vital aspect. According to Badawood, the role of social workers in health facilities is to take care of the social and psychological issues concerning patients and their families. They also have to deal with patients in such a way that they do not develop a sense of alienation, he said. – SG “We are planning to organize more events to support corporate social responsibility and community service programs, as we are looking forward to the contribution of every member of society to work on educating the community about the necessity of social service and the role of the medical social worker,” said Hiat Al-Ghamdi, head of the Organizing Committee, and Assistant Psychological Health Manager in Jeddah.
