The Saudi Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology's fifth Gulf international conference on women's health opened here Monday entitled “Scientific innovation in women's health”. More than 70 speakers from all over the world are participating in the event which is calling for a greater focus on women's health. Prince Misha'l Bin Majed Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Jeddah, attended the opening Monday. Secretary General of the society and head of the conference's organizing committee, Dr. Hisham Arab, said the society has many projects aimed at improving women's health in the Kingdom. It has organized monthly medical forums for gynecologists and obstetric physicians in the Kingdom's main regions. “The society has also approved two campaigns to raise awareness of breast cancer, which will be launched in May and October. The second campaign will coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” He said there are also awareness programs on obesity, tumors and other medical issues. Arab said the medical forums held for doctors have had a positive impact. The conference also seeks to provide incentives for young doctors to innovate in the domain of women's health. Two prizes have been created for the best research presented at the conference.
