New BMW 5 Series arrives in Kingdom
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 03 - 2010

In yet another sign of a strong Saudi economy, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors(MYNM), the exclusive and official importer of BMW Group brands - BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce - in the Kingdom, heralded on Monday the arrival of the new BMW 5 Series sedan.
The new BMW 5 Series exudes in perfect sportiness, elegance, design and the highest standard of efficiency in its class.
Its debut marks the epitome of aesthetic design and supreme driving pleasure in the upper midrange segment. With its sporting and elegant design, excellent comfort and the highest standard in efficiency in its class, the sixth generation of this immensely successful executive sedan is expected to continue the success story.
The core product in BMW's portfolio and one of the top selling models in the Middle East, the new 5 Series is set to strengthen BMW's position in the premium midrange segment.
Despite 2009 being a challenging year, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors remained steadfast and achieved a 28 percent increase in sales over 2008, Anees Jamjoom, managing director, MYNM, said at a press conference.
“This is a remarkable achievement and one which I am extremely proud to share with you. Not only did we increase our sales by 28 percent, but 2009 was a record year for BMW Group sales in Saudi Arabia's history. And 2010 has got off to a good start for us, our sales for January and February have increased by a further 22 percent,” he pointed out.
“We are confident that we can continue our strong relationship with the BMW Group to continue to increase the brands' strength, popularity and sales in the Saudi market,” he added.
The launch of the new BMW 5 Series opens up the latest chapter in a truly impressive story of success. This sixth generation model embodies everything the BMW brand stands for - innovation, luxury and design coupled with sheer driving pleasure, Jamjoom further said.
It is based on a newly developed vehicle and is totally different from its predecessor in terms of design, comfort, technology and engineering.
“The 5 Series has always been one of our best sellers in Saudi Arabia, so we are naturally delighted to introduce this new model into the market. We are confident that it will be well received and help us maintain our position at the forefront of the European luxury car market,” he added.
The new BMW 5 Series will enter the Middle East market with one eight-cylinder and three six-cylinder petrol engines.
The six-cylinder high precision injection and valvetronic in the BMW 535i delivers maximum output of 306 hp. The unit has a price of SR215,000 for the entry level and SR285,000 for the fully-loaded version.
The top model BMW 550i Gran Turismo powered by a V8 with TwinPower Turbo featuring high precision injection (407 hp) is retailed at SR370,000. Company officials said it will arrive in the Kingdom sometime in May.
