Actress Gabourey Sidibe had become the toast of Hollywood with her Oscar winning debut, but in image-obsessed Hollywood where thin is in, the “Precious” star is at the center of a weight debate. The actress' mother has come to her defence after DJ Howard Stern ridiculed Sidibe's figure on his popular radio show, reported a newspaper. “She is enormous, everyone's pretending she's a part of showbusiness and she's never going to be in another movie,” Stern had said. Alice Tan Ridley hit back, saying, “Get a life. He can see, you can see, I can see Gaby is a big girl. She's a big woman, so what's wrong with that? She's not like everyone else in the world. I don't see him giving jobs out to anybody, so why should we care what he says? He might not hire her, but someone else will,” she said on a TV show. America's National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance also defended the “Precious” actress this week after a weight loss company publicly offered her a one year supply of their product to “reach your goal of someday winning an Oscar... by being active, fit, and most of all, healthy.” Gabourey recently told Oprah Winfrey, “One day, I had to sit down with myself and decide that I loved myself, no matter what my body looked like.”
