A Saudi man who stole his neighbor's car has been sentenced to five months in prison and 220 lashes of the whip. The District Court in Madina made the ruling on Sunday after hearing how the accused in his thirties stole the vehicle, removed the number plates and then used it repeatedly, abandoning it 22 days later in a distant district of the city. The thief was arrested after the neighbor singled him out as the prime suspect, and denied any involvement until his thumbs prints were identified on the steering wheel. The car, which was stolen from in front of the owner's house, reportedly required extensive repairs due to the damage inflicted on it by the offender.
