Organizers of the 31st Buraidah Kalaija Festival which concluded here on Friday say that 300,000 visitors attended the ten-day event resulting in total sales worth approximately SR1.65 million. The annual festival to celebrate the regional biscuit-bun “kalaija” and an assortment of other delicacies from the region of Qassim hosts a wide range of events endorsing local products and has been increasingly successful over the years. “We've had a great response from local families who've been encouraged to display their products at the festival and people are now calling for the occasion to be held for longer than its current ten days,” said the festival's executive president Fahd Al-'Oairi. “I'm also hoping to see a smaller-scale permanent center set up for producing families at the festival site to be open, for example, one day a week, which would help in production, marketing and training and also promoting the general idea of such events around the country.”
