Three enclosed sports centers with separate times for men and women are to open in Makkah by the end of the year, according to Zaki Hariri of the Mayor's Office in the city. Hariri said that the sports clubs will be located in the districts of Al-Shara'i, Al-Naseem and Al-Noura, and will be up and running by the beginning of the next Hijri year, beginning in December, 2010. “The clubs will be open for women three days a week and four days a week for men,” Hariri said. “They are completely enclosed and will be run by the Mayor's Office.” Hariri said that the clubs would contain enclosed sports halls, walking areas, football pitches, and basketball and volleyball courts. He added that the proposals for an artificial water sports lake at Al-Sharqi Park in Nu'man on the Taif to Makkah highway are under consideration.
