Defending champion and Olympic rider Khalid Eid will take on Saudi elite horse riders at equestrian competitions to be held at King Abdul Aziz Military Academy here Saturday. The Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation (SAEF) has completed all the arrangements for the event, which will be patronized by Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal, Vice President of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare and President of SAEF, Prince Abdullah Bin Fahd Bin Abdullah, Vice President of SAEF and other equestrian lovers. The participants will be vying for King Abdul Aziz Cup and Bayet Al-Riyadh Cup, the sponsor's trophy. Abdul Latif Jameel Company will also award a Toyota Aurion to the winner of the competition. The championship comprises 13 stages. Among the elite horse riders who have represented the Kingdom in international events are Olympic riders Abdullah Al-Sharbatly and Ramzi Al-Dhamme, and Faris Fahd Al-Eid and Fahd Al-Gead. Prince Abdullah Bin Miteb is skipping the competition to train for the Beijing Olympics. Established in 1989, the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation is one of the most active national federations. It joined the Asian and the International Equestrian Federations in 1990. The course at King Abdul Aziz Military Academy is covered with natural grass. Other than the main field, there are four well equipped secondary venues for training and warming up, 112 stables furnished with all the requirements in addition to a veterinary clinic. __
