The 2010 Lotus Evora, unveiled on Thursday in Jeddah, represents an evolution for Lotus in the manufacture of exciting lightweight British sports cars. The Lotus Evora has sports car fans worldwide marveling at its beautiful design and thrilling new technology. The Evora is a different breed of sports car from Group Lotus, known in recent years predominantly as the masters of the Lotus Elise and Exige series. Employing a 2+2 seating design and with an interior full of amenities, the Lotus Evora is a livable super lightweight sports car, that should carry over Lotus' famous driving dynamics as well. Powered by a Lotus-tuned 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 280 PS /206 kW/276hp @ 6400rpm, and weighing just 1350 kg, the Evora delivers an exhilarating experience true to the Lotus DNA characteristics. With class leading driving dynamics, fuel economy and emissions of just 205 g/km of CO2, the new Lotus Evora raises the bar for world class high performing sports cars. Its mid-engine layout gives exceptional agility and the Lotus engineered suspension ensures incredible ride and handling. With the zero to 60 mph sprint taking just 4.9 seconds (100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds) a top speed of 162 mph (261 km/h) and an Official European Combined Cycle fuel economy just 32.5 mpg (8.7 liters / 100 km) and emissions of just 205 g/km CO2, Evora stays true to the ethos of performance though lightweight. The Evora will be handcrafted and built on a dedicated new assembly line within Lotus' advanced manufacturing facility at Hethel in the East of England. Capacity limitations will restrict production to approximately 2,000 cars a year, ensuring the dynamic new sports car's rarity and exclusivity. The Evora offers a more refined ownership experience than Lotus' existing smaller four-cylinder models. Careful attention has also been paid to its ease of use. Its wider, taller door apertures, narrower sills and higher seating position makes getting in and out of the cabin a less athletic undertaking than it is in Lotus' smaller sports cars.
