The appearance of a large snake wandering the corridors of a girls' school in Taif has led to renewed calls from parents for the “dilapidated state” of the building to be addressed by local authorities. The snake reportedly appeared Wednesday morning slithering along corridors and in and out of classrooms, causing pupils and staff to flee the building in panic and refuse to return until the serpent was removed. Parents described the school as “an old crumbling building with a wooden roof standing right next to the mountain”. “This makes it easy for reptiles and baboons to get in,” they said. “The school also lacks the most basic safety facilities, all of which is affecting our children's education”.
