Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Riyadh Region, Tuesday night laid the foundation stone of the Prince Salman Science Oasis spread over an area of 200,000 sq. meters along King Abdullah Road in the capital. Businessmen have put in SR400 million to create the oasis. The Supreme Commission for Riyadh Development Authority will design and build the park that would initially include administrative buildings and eight thematic show halls on earth, space, water, life, energy, technology, awareness, and three dimensional art. Prince Sultan Bin Salman, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), other princes and senior officials were present on the occasion. Prince Salman highlighted the progress and development witnessed by the Kingdom, and said King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz give great attention to activities which benefit the country. The Emir hoped that the science oasis project would enable youth to get training and work experience so as to positively contribute to the development of the country. Prince Salman, who also agreed to become the Supreme President of Prince Salman Science Oasis, thanked donors for the project that aims to enable youth to become acquainted with the latest developments in the scientific and technological domains. Prince Sultan who is also Chairman of the executive council for the project, quoted King Abdullah as saying on the occasion of opening KAUST that the Islamic civilization had played a great role in the service of human civilization.
