The global market for ceramic tiles is projected to reach over 102 billion square feet by 2010. Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) and the Middle East with a double-digit combined annual growth rate of almost 12 percent are projected to emerge as the fastest growing regions for ceramic tiles according to UK's CMPi, organizers of Fit-Out Middle East. The event is scheduled to take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center on Nov. 17-18, 2008. “A ceramic tile is one of the essential materials used in the construction industry,” said Chris Fountain, event director of CMPi. “Interiors and exteriors can be magnificently enhanced by fixing the floors, walls and facades with ceramic tiles.” Fountain noted that using the newly developed whole-body decoration technology, manufacturers can streamline their production process and costs by utilizing porcelain tiles that resemble natural stones. The ceramic tiles industry is going through a major metamorphosis as technological developments have aided in increasing color shades and variety of tiles available in the market. Development of multi-screen and roto-drum technology have made it possible to manufacture tiles that replicate stone, metal and a variety of looks. Ceramic tiles are now available in large array of sizes, formats, and designs. Fit-Out Middle East focuses on the final stages of construction and development. Launching in November 2008, the show will run alongside the established Working Buildings Middle East exhibition and conference series, in order to deliver the right mix of senior buyers and decision makers from across the Middle East region and beyond. Exhibitors will include contractors, shop-fitters, manufacturers and interior design agencies. Visitors will be those responsible for the design and function of commercial and retail space, including developers, architects, designers, facilities professionals and operations managers. The Fit-Out sector is directly aligned to the boom in construction now taking place not only in Abu Dhabi, but across the Gulf region. __
