The Higher Economic Council has approved a plan to privatize some parts of the Social Ministry's services, Dr. Yousuf Al-Othaimeen, Minister of Social Affairs, has said. The ministry, he said, is currently carrying out necessary paperwork to place the services to tender by the end of the year. Al-Othaimeen made these comments at the inauguration of the volunteer's exhibition at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) on Monday. More than 50 volunteer bodies in the Eastern Province are taking part in the event. Al-Othaimeen called on the Kingdom's universities to adopt the KFUPM's idea of making volunteer work part of the education process. “If we give our youth the chance to work in an organized manner we will be pleased by the results,” the minister said. – Okaz/SG Al-Othaimeen added that there is no plan at the moment to expand the capacity of the Girls' Correction House in Al-Ahsa. “It will be expanded if needed,” the minister said.
