Saudi Gazette report
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 16 - 03 - 2010

Under the patronage of Princess Nora Bint Sultan, Nayyara - the Events and Conventions company arranged its first exhibition showcasing chocolates and flowers from March 6 to March 8.
The two members responsible for organizing the event were Mona Al-Sabeq and Hind Al-Shammari; the latter is the Director of Public Relations at the Al-Nahdha Philanthropic Society. Speaking at the event they said, “The support and encouragement young Saudi women have received from Princess Nouf Bint Faisal Bin Turki, the director of Nayyara, have helped reveal the knowledge, talents and experience such women have. The ideas were brought to fruition in real projects demonstrated throughout the three-day exhibition.
Hind Al-Shammari added that “this gathering which is one of a kind here in Saudi Arabia is a landmark for young Saudi women.”
The incredible arrangements on display and the exhibition itself showcased the elegant tastes of modern Saudi women blended with their view of the different cultures which they have been exposed to as well as their acceptance of all that is new.
“We have been successful in bringing together more than 30 specialized companies in the field of chocolates and floral arrangements, of both local and international fame,” Al-Sabeq stated. “And the event was held in coordination with the time of the year when most Saudi weddings and celebrations take place.”
Al-Shammari invited women from Riyadh and other cities - both Saudis and non-Saudis - to attend the exhibition in order to witness the talents of Saudi women in an environment modified to allow women privacy.
Preparations for the exhibition took four months. Both organizers proposed the idea of having two of the most elementary and beautiful aspects of celebrations - chocolates and flowers - combined in one exhibition.
The exhibition's goals are as follows:
• Gathering many chocolate and flower businesses under one roof.
• Encouraging foreign investment.
• Exchanging ideas and experiences amongst participating stores.
• Encouraging young Saudi businesses, by showing and marketing their work.
• Giving visitors the chance to choose the best by exposing them to a large selections.
• Creating a pleasant atmosphere among visitors through tasting many kinds of chocolates and enjoying the many varieties of wonderful flowers.
