It was a Thursday night filled with non-stop entertainment as Pakistan's ‘pop sensation' Faakhir Mehmood enthralled Jeddah's music lovers with his spirited performance of a number of popular songs, most of which were his original renditions. The music show “Faakhir Music Mela 2010” organized by Jeddah's International Talent Promotion (ITP) in a compound here was Faakhir's first live performance in the city. Prior to the show, speaking to Saudi Gazette, Faakhir said: “I am happy to see that hundreds of families have gathered here to enjoy music. This is the first time I have performed in Jeddah, though I have visited the Kingdom twice before for Haj and Umrah. I thank the organizer Tariq Rahim, ITP president and coordinator Arif Ali for inviting me, and the audience who have come to attend my show.” His over two-hour performance began with the track ‘Jiya na jaye tere bina' from his latest album “Mantra”, and included other popular numbers, namely, ‘Ajj lagta nahi dil mera', ‘Kabhi kabhi pyar mein', ‘Kash hum judaa na hote', ‘Maahi ve', Punjabi and Sindhi folk songs and a Hamd ‘Allah hu'. The program was compered by Ashfaq Badayuoni, former presenter in Radio PakistanKarachi studio. Local artists who performed included: Rafay Khan, Shahzad, Omer Farooq and Sikander Ali. The orchestra was comprised of local musicians: Fareed (keyboard), Atiq Farooqui (drum) and Hira (guitar).
