Shabab and Al-Hilal excelled in round two of the AFC Champions League by defeating Pakhtakor and Mes Kerman respectively with identical 3-1 margin Wednesday. Shabab topped Group (C) with four points followed by Pakhtakor 3, Sepahan 2 and Al-Ain 1. On the other hand, Hilal also topped Group D with six points followed by Sadd of Qatar 3, Mes Kerman 3 (2-goal difference) and Al-Ahli of UAE no points. In a Group C match at Pakhtakor Stadium, Angolan striker Amado Flavio scored twice for Shabab before Alisher Azizov of Pakhtakor reduced the margin. However, Shabab midfielder Ahmed Al-Ka'abi sealed the win. Flavio scored in the 61st minute and doubled it 12 minutes later. Substitute Azizov scored 10 minutes from the end but Al-Ka'abi ended Pakhtakor hopes in the seventh minute of the extended time. In another match in Group D, Al-Hilal won over its guest Mes Kerman 3-1 at King Fahd International Stadium. Hilal's Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson put his team in the lead with an early goal in the 4th minute before defender Osama Hawsawi headed in a corner kick into the goal ten minutes later. Nine minutes before the final whistle, Yasser Al-Qahtani made a solo to seal his team's win before substitute Ali Samereh of Mes Kerman scored a consolation goal. Mes Kerman coach Luka said his team showed one of its worst matches. Eric Gerets of Hilal said the result reflected the attacking method they applied.
