About 145 outlets selling gold and out-of-date car tires have been fined by the Mayor's Office in Jeddah. A Licensing and Monitoring Department report said that of 208 gold and jewelry shops inspected last month 27 were found to be in breach of regulations, particularly concerning Saudization in the appointment of staff and failures to obtain or renew licenses. Over 100 car tire outlets were found to be selling used or out-of-date products. “Some tires were out-of-date and others bore no validity date stamps, which is clearly designed to cheat the customer,” said head inspector Bashir Abu Najm. “Other products were in breach of Saudi standards and specifications.”
