Merely two days after the crash of Kiran MK II aircraft of Indian Navy in a residential area in Hyderabad, killing both the pilots, a helicopter carrying four passengers created a flutter after it went missing. However, the authorities could heave a sigh of relief when it landed safely at Huzurnagar town of Nalgonda district even as the police in three adjoining districts of Krishna, Khammam and Nalgonda was put on alert to look for the chopper as it had gone missing from the radar. Anil Kumar, the district superintendent of police in Khammam told this correspondent over phone that he had received the information from Hyderabad that the chopper had vanished from the radar screen. ‘However later it landed in Huzurnagar and I have confirmed with the Air Traffic Control that it was the same helicopter”. The chopper carrying the survey team of National Mineral Development Corporation had taken off from Gudur in Nellore district to undertake survey for minerals in Nalgonda district. But it was not visible on the radar screen after it was last spotted between Khammam and Krishna districts in the morning.
