The responsibility for the Kingdom's food standards will soon be transferred from the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA). This was confirmed Tuesday by the Executive President of the SFDA Dr. Muhammad Al-Kanhal. Al-Kanhal, who was speaking at the opening of the Radiation Medicine Conference at King Faisal Specialist Hospital, said the transfer will take place after setting up the necessary mechanisms. It will help the SFDA control all its work. He said the SFDA's regulations are being studied at the Shoura Council. The SFDA is responsible for withdrawing all products proved harmful by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce and the municipalities.
