Serie A leader Inter Milan shrugged off the suspensions of four players and the concession of an early goal to win 3-2 at lowly Udinese Sunday. Three straight draws had slashed its advantage at the top but their famed resilience coupled with some fantastic play kept the champion four points above second-placed AC Milan, who beat Atalanta 3-1. Inter was without the suspended Walter Samuel, Ivan Cordoba, Esteban Cambiasso and Sulley Muntari following last weekend's fiery 0-0 draw with Sampdoria and had coach Jose Mourinho banned from the bench. Injury-hit Roma in third slipped seven points behind Inter after surrendering a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Napoli. Palermo surged up to fourth after beating Juventus 2-0. In other games it was: Bologna 4 Genoa 3; Parma 1 Sampdoria 0; Chievo 2 Cagliari 1; Siena 2 Livorno 1. Atletico routs Valencia Striker Diego Forlan netted twice as improving Atletico Madrid trounced nine-man Valencia 4-1 in La Liga Sunday while Sevilla also had a player dismissed and was held 0-0 at home to Athletic Bilbao. Leader Barcelona and second-placed Real Madrid both won Saturday. Barcelona beat Malaga 2-1 and Real Madrid won 5-1 at Tenerife. Barca is now two clear at the top on 61 points from 24 matches and Real second on 59. Valencia is 13 points behind Real on 46 in third and Sevilla is fourth on 43, three ahead of Real Mallorca, which won 2-1 at Real Valladolid earlier Sunday. Atletico, which had a woeful start to the season but has since climbed to 11th and is the only team to beat champion Barca this season, has 30.
