Police raids and roundups of illegal immigrants led on Friday to the return of an Arab resident with HIV/AIDS who had fled from authorities following medical tests confirming his condition. The campaign, conducted in the south Jeddah districts of Al-Subail and Al-Kandara, targeted beggars, visa overstayers and unlicensed street traders, and resulted in the detention of 142 persons, mainly of African nationalities. Officials said the person with HIV/AIDS was returned to the care of authorities to protect his wife and children.
