day scientific conference for higher education students will be launched at King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh on Monday. Set up under the patronage of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the event will see the attendance of over 5,000 female and male students representing various universities in the Kingdom. Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, the Minister of Higher Education said in a statement: “The King's patronage renders conclusive evidence of the importance he attaches to the development of higher education, to produce a qualified Saudis capable of contributing to the country's development and progress. It also reflects the importance of the conference in which more than 5,000 students are participating with interesting working papers.” He said the conference will allow Saudi students to showcase their talents. On the sidelines of the conference, students will display their inventions and artistic talent. A plastic art and photography show will also be held. Meanwhile, Taif University said it would pay all costs for any research its students have submitted to the conference. Students will be funded fully whether their research is presented or not, said Abdul Illah Ba-Najah, the university's president. The conference stands out because it is totally coordinated and organized by Saudi university students, he said. The university has encouraged its students to take part in the conference and has assisted them with all their research needs so that they could submit their proposals on time, he said.
