Mohd. Salamat, Indian film playback singer of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' and ‘Devdas' fame will perform for the first time in Jeddah on Mar. 4, Thursday, at the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) Boys Section auditorium. Salamat was given his first break in Bollywood by veteran actors Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, and received a number of awards from music directors Naushad, Ravi, Usha Khanna and Anu Malilk. Arif Quraishi, president of the Indian Cultural Society Jeddah (ICSJ) and Bazm-e-Osmania, who is organizing the show, said the program is being held in commemoration of the 61st anniversary of India's Republic Day and in honor of the sacrifices made by the country's freedom fighters. “ICSJ and Bazm-e-Osmania have traditionally hosted functions to celebrate India's national days,” he said.
