The Emirate of Makkah has decided to intervene in an acrimonious dispute between a local businessman and a mayoralty official over a valuable piece of beachfront property. The businessman claims that his tourist resort includes a part of the beachfront which has allegedly been stolen from him by the mayoralty official. The businessman claims the official did this by tampering with the blueprints of the property which has resulted in an encroachment on his land. The mayoralty official had denied the claims and said that he has documents to prove that he owns the piece of land. The Emirate has officially asked the Mayoralty to send it all documents related to the case. The businessman has insisted that he has 15-year-old documents proving he owns the land. Informed sources said that Adel Faqih, the Mayor of Jeddah, has questioned the official, who works at the mayoralty as an adviser. The official has been cleared of wrongdoing by the mayoralty, however. The official has produced documents showing that he owns the seafront property, according to sources.
