The first Jollibee and 29th FBA Basketball Tournament is set to start at 5 P.M. Friday at the Saudi Hi-Tech compound here. In all, 28 teams have already signified their intention to join the tournament which is being organized by the Filipino Basketball Association (FBA) and is sponsored by Jollibee Saudi Arabia. After signing the sponsorship agreement contract, Faisal Y. Bamhrez (Division Manager, Jollibee), assured FBA President Edgar Mendoza of their full support to the tournament and wished FBA good luck. The following are the teams participating in their respective divisions: Inter-Commercial Bona Fide Group A – Arabian Int'l. Company (AIC), American Garden, BG Company-Gulf Express, Goody, Sarco-Shoaiba A, Saudi Oger and Sharbatly Corp. Inter-Commercial Bona Fide Group B – Al-GBAA, Consolidated Can Mfg. Co. (CCMC), Fikra Printing Press, Radisson Blu, Rosewood Corniche Hotel, Sarco-Jeddah, Sarco-Shoaiba B and Zahid Tractor. Inter-Commercial Open Non-Rated Division – Al-Shuman, Centerpoint, Fruit Ice Cream, Jeddah Kickers, Jollibee, New Breed-Al Shaya, Strikers, Nissan-AUC and Al-Zafer Cargo. Inter-Commercial Open Rated Division (Ltd.) – Al-Salam International Hospital, Hanco Maintenance, Samir Group and Solid North. Officials from the Philippines Consulate, headed by Consul General Ezzedin H. Tago, active community leaders, senior executives of sponsoring company and other well known personalities are expected to grace the occasion. Admission is free for all basketball aficionados and they will have the opportunity to take home fabulous free raffle prizes such as LCD monitors of 32 & 42 inches, a laptop computer and other Jollibee's promotional items. Cash and valuable prizes are also at stake in the tournament.
