A doctor employed at Tarif General Hospital left his dinner to burn as he spoke on the telephone at his bachelor apartment in the middle of the town's market on Monday, starting a fire which prompted shoppers to call in the fire brigade. Fuming fire officials said the man was “on the phone to a friend” when flames and smoke started pouring out of an upstairs window, attracting the attention of shoppers below. The fire was contained before damage could spread to neighboring buildings.
