year-old Arab suspect who was arrested for “suspicious behavior” as he stood behind Imam Sheikh Salah Al-Budair at the Prophet's Mosque on Friday, with a hidden knife and a dagger, was found to be mentally stable, an official source said. Despite his good health and mental stability, the man has been uncooperative with investigators during questioning, as part of an attempt to trick investigators and mislead them, said Lt. Col. Ali Al-Marwani, secretary of the Commander-in-Chief of the Madina Police Department. “It is an unconscious attempt some criminals use to avoid critical situations, which would temporarily reduce their stress and anxiety,” said Al-Marwani who also holds a Ph.D in psychology. “But they can't hang onto it for too long and they would soon break down,” he added. The man has been kept in solitary confinement for the fifth day in a row under heavy guard at the mental hospital in Madina. A medical team is scheduled to conduct a further examination on the man Wednesday, said Mahmoud Junaid, assistant director of the hospital. Meanwhile, authorities are studying the possibility of tightening security around the imams of the Two Holy Mosques, with nine bodyguards for each one.
