Owners of properties that will have to make way for the multibillion riyal Al-Haramain train project have been notified that they have to apply for compensation. The Committee for Enumeration of Properties has called on several owners of properties situated in the Al-Hamdaniah Districts, northeast of Jeddah, to visit the Compensations Section of the General Administration for Transport in the Makkah Region, in Jeddah. In notices sent out to citizens recently, the committee said applicants will have to produce two sets of documents. The first set must include photocopies of title deeds and the original for comparison; a photocopy of the Civil Status card of the owner of the property; a certificate from the Real Estate Development Fund to specify that there are no arrears owed to the fund; a certificate from the Agricultural Development Fund for those who own agricultural land; and a photocopy of the engineering drawings according to the title deed. The committee said the second set of documents should contain four photocopies of the title deed; a photocopy of the Civil Status card; a photocopy of the certificate from the Agricultural Development Fund; and four photocopies of the engineering drawings. The Al-Hamdaniah Districts Area consists of a number of planned districts including Al-Hamdaniah, Al-Shafa, Al-Hada, Al-Hinaki, Al-Majed, Al-Azizia, Al-Salehia, Al-Bashayer and Planned District No. 83. Al-Hamdaniah districts are being affected by a number of projects, including Al-Haramain Train route; the new ring road; and the connections for the storm-water drainage project. The compensation teams have been photographing these areas so that complete information can be gathered before payouts can take place. The Haramain High-Speed Rail forms part of the Saudi Railways Organization's (SRO) plan to improve traveling conditions for pilgrims between the holy cities and other parts of the country. This part of the railway line is 440-km long, linking Jeddah, Madina and Makkah and is expected to be completed in December 2012. The project will be executed in phases. Part 1 of phase 1 includes the civil works of the railway, extending from Makkah to Madina, which will pass through King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The first line will run from Jeddah to Makkah and the second will run from Jeddah to Madina. Part 2 of phase 1 includes the construction of five train stations (located in Makkah Central, Jeddah Central, Jeddah Airport, King Abdullah Economic City, and the Knowledge Economic City). Phase 2 comprises the railway tracks, signaling and communication systems, and operations and maintenance. The SRO also plans to build a 950-km track between Riyadh and Jeddah; and a 115-km long track between Dammam and Jubail.
