day workshop on applications of regional climate change scenarios – the first of its kind in the Arab World – began here Sunday at the headquarters of the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment. The workshop, under the patronage of Prince Turki Bin Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the PME, is being held in conjunction with Met Office Hadley Center for Climate Change of Britain. Members from the Gulf Cooperation Council and specialists from different local sectors like Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals, Aramco, King Abdulaziz University and Presidency of Meteorology and Environment are taking part in the workshop. The Hadley Center for Climate Change is technically supporting the workshop where its experts will present the latest version of climate change models for the benefit of participants from GCC countries. “The workshop will help the Kingdom and the GCC countries to prepare and evaluate the future effects of the climate changes and to make policies accordingly,” said Dr. Taha Zatari, General Director of Enviromental Standards in the PME.
