The District Court here sentenced an Indonesian housemaid to one year in prison and 100 lashes of the whip for being found guilty of mixing her urine with the family's food. According to sources, a citizen reported his Asian housemaid to the police for adulterating the family's food and practicing sorcery on his wife and children. The source said the housemaid admitted to her crime but denied that she was doing this for the purpose of sorcery. After several sessions, the judge sentenced the housemaid to one year in jail and 100 lashes of the whip. Last year the District Court passed a similar verdict on two housemaids – an Indonesian and Filipina – for the same reasons.
