The municipality here has confiscated Hero baby products from local markets based on a health warning issued by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SPDA). On Jan. 26 the authority warned residents not to buy Hero baby products as they contain enterobacter sakazaki bacteria, which can be especially harmful for children. “We had to confiscate the product after the SFDA issued its health warning. We began making inspection tours of Jeddah markets last Wednesday to confiscate these baby products,” Dr. Basheer Abu Najem of the licensing and oversight department at Jeddah Municipality told Saudi Gazette. He added that the municipality will implement tough sanctions on those stores found selling the products. The Hero baby products being confiscated bear a production date of May 12, 2009 and expiration date of May 11, 2010. They are made in Turkey and stamped with the number “Hero 11059”.
